A content management system (CMS) is a system that allows you to control the content on your own website without any technical or coding background. Using a modern CMS you can quite easily add text and images to your website in just a couple of clicks. You can even add and maintain a blogging system which allows you to interact with your users and helps increase traffic to your website. Some popular CMS systems you may have heard of are Wordpress, Joomla or Drupal.
For my CMS systems I use joomla. Although wordpress is extremely popular it is at the end of the day primarily a blogging platform. And although with the use of plugins wordpress can be used to virtually make any site you need the use of so many plugins can put your site at a higher risk of cyber attacks compared to other platforms such as Joomla. Joomla straight out of the box is primarily a CMS system and as opposed to wordpress it is primarily designed as a platform for small and large businesses. Joomla has also made massive strides for the blogging community and now stacks up very well as a blogging platform.
